Job Summary:

The Cashier is responsible for processing sales transactions, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area within the store. Cashiers play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience for customers by accurately processing purchases, answering inquiries, and offering assistance as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Scan and ring up merchandise, process payments, and issue receipts accurately and efficiently using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Greet customers as they enter the store and thank them for their business at the conclusion of each transaction.
• Handle transactions ensuring accuracy and security at all times.
• Answer customer inquiries regarding products, prices, promotions, and store policies, providing helpful and accurate information.
• Bag or package merchandise neatly and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including counters, registers, and adjacent spaces, and request supplies (e.g., bags, receipt paper) as needed.
• Monitor and manage customer queues to minimize wait times and ensure a smooth checkout process for all customers.
• Adhere to all safety and security protocols, including cash handling procedures, to prevent theft, fraud, and loss.
• Uphold company standards for customer service, professionalism, and integrity in all interactions with customers.
• High school diploma , GED or equivalent work experience.
• Fulfill additional tasks assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

• Previous experience in cashiering and customer service is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with customers and colleagues.
• Basic math skills and proficiency in using a cash register or POS system to process transactions accurately.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multitask while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate store operating hours.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for an extended length of time.
• Frequently lift items over 50 pounds
• Background check required
