Dacono, CO (pop. 6,494) seeks an energetic, thoughtful, and honest local government leader to serve as its next
City Manager. The seven-member City Council is aligned in seeking an experienced professional who will be able
to cultivate and manage relationships with elected officials, staff, and the community. The next City Manager
should have demonstrated experience in financial management, growth and development, an understanding of a
water utility and how water rights can be distributed, as well as building economic development partnerships.

Centrally located and adjacent to I-25, Dacono is 10 miles north of the Denver metro area, 44 miles south of Fort
Collins, 28 miles northwest of Denver International Airport (DIA) and 21 miles northeast of Boulder.
The City Manager is responsible for carrying out the will of the City Council and management of all Department
Directors. Currently there are five Department Directors: Community Development Director, City Clerk, Director of
Finance, Police Chief, and Public Works Director
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader, capable of navigating the complexities of municipal management
with finesse. From strategic planning to community engagement, the City Manager will be instrumental in driving
initiatives that enhance Dacono’s economic prosperity, promote sustainable development, and ensure the wellbeing of the diverse and growing population. In selecting the next City Manager, the City of Dacono has identified
the following characteristics, skills and traits that are important to the Council, City employees, residents, and
community stakeholders.
• An available, responsive, and communicative leader committed to the betterment of the City with a
management style that emphasizes honesty, high ethical standards, and excellent communication skills.
• Five to Seven years as an administrator/manager in a similar-sized or mid-sized community or a
deputy/assistant manager in a similar sized or larger community.
• A Bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, business management or a closely related
field. A graduate degree in public administration or a closely related field from an accredited university is
highly valued. Residency is not required.
The City anticipates a hiring range between $190,000 – $213,000 +/- DOQ with a comprehensive benefits
