Job Title: Copy Editor – Marketing (Financial Services)
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid – Onsite Mon–Thurs, Remote Friday)
Duration: 6-month W2 contract (with potential extension)
Pay Rate: $33/hour (W2 only – no C2C)

About the Role
Swoon is hiring a Copy Editor to join the Canadian Marketing team of a top-tier financial services company. This role is focused on proofreading , not creative writing, and supports the creation and maintenance of marketing materials that must meet strict regulatory, legal, and brand guidelines. You will help ensure materials are accurate, compliant, and stylistically consistent across channels.
Key Responsibilities
Proofread and copyedit marketing materials (digital and print) for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, tone, and formatting.
Verify data, statistics, and disclosures for accuracy across recurring (BAU) content such as brochures, quarterly reports, and internal communications.
Track and apply compliance and legal updates using internal style and branding guides.
Work within Workfront to manage tasks, communicate with stakeholders, and track document revisions.
Collaborate with the Canadian marketing team (based in LA and Toronto) and cross-functional partners in compliance and operations.
Apply and maintain brand consistency using AP Stylebook , Chicago Manual of Style , and custom internal guidelines.
Required Qualifications
3–5 years of professional copy editing or proofreading experience.
Prior experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, pharma, insurance).
Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, and editorial best practices.
Familiarity with Workfront or similar content/project management systems.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage updates across multiple recurring documents.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, process-driven environment.
Ability to follow strict regulatory and compliance requirements in marketing communications.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to read or lightly edit French-language documents (not required; minimal involvement).
Experience with Canadian English or familiarity with Canadian spelling/style differences (training and guides will be provided).
Work Environment
Hybrid schedule: Onsite in Los Angeles from Monday to Thursday , remote on Fridays.
Collaborative team environment with several other LA-based marketing professionals supporting the Canadian business line.
