Position Summary:

Modern Hydrogen is seeking a Director of Corporate Development to lead Modern Hydrogens market expansion into the AI data center sector. This is a rare opportunity to shape a novel clean baseload / on-demand power solution from the ground up, working at the intersection of climate tech and AI infrastructure.

You will be the key commercial driver for our data center verticalidentifying, shaping, and closing deals with large tech customers, particularly the hyperscalers. You will collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to craft compelling solutions, and youll bring a strong understanding of how large tech and data center project developers make energy decisions, structure contracts, and evaluate decarbonization options.

This role demands creativity, vision & ambition, and deep domain expertise. You must bring both a strategic mindset and a scrappy, entrepreneurial approach to building a business around a groundbreaking solution to support & decarbonize the 10s and eventually 100s of GWs in natural gas power that is being deployed to power the AI revolution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive Modern Hydrogens go-to-market strategy for the data center clean power segment

  • Identify, engage, and build relationships with hyperscalers, large-scale data center project developers, and other key stakeholders

  • Lead complex commercial negotiations from early conversations through signed deals

  • Engage directly with decision-makers to validate product fit and position Modern Hydrogen as a strategic solution to their near-term power and long-term decarbonization + social-license-to-operate needs

  • Shape and refine our decarbonized power offering to data centers in collaboration with the product team; provide customer insights to guide solution design; clearly articulate our differentiated value proposition in decarbonization and scalability.

  • Navigate technical, commercial, and regulatory hurdles in novel clean energy deployments

  • Develop partnerships and strategic alliances as needed

  • Report on market trends, sales pipeline, and deal status to senior leadership

  • Other duties as assigned

  • None

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success selling clean power or decarbonization energy projects to big tech, e.g. geothermal, nuclear, carbon capture, hydrogen, direct air capture, or similarly novel energy projects.

  • Deep familiarity with large techs purchasing structures, energy procurement strategies, and decarbonization commitments

  • A strong network in the hyperscaler ecosystem energy buyers, sustainability leaders, and infrastructure executives

  • Proven ability to operate with autonomy and bias for action

  • Exceptional communication and framing skills you know how to position novel technology and explain its value clearly

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced environments; able to align stakeholders and push deals forward

  • Passionate about clean energy, climate tech, and building new markets

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field; MBA or technical graduate degree a plus.

  • 8+ years in business development, commercial, or strategic roles focused on selling clean power or decarbonization solutions to large tech customer

  • Pay Range: $185,000-$215,000 / year. *Final compensation may vary based on location, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, etc.
