Job Description

The Nova Institute for Health, a nonprofit organization based in Baltimore, Maryland, seeks a motivated professional with excellent interpersonal, writing/communication, and organizational skills. The grant writer will organize and manage applications and reports for existing grants, as well as identify, research, and submit proposals for new grants. This is a part-time, contracted position (can be remote or hybrid) of approximately 20 hours per week reporting to the senior director of strategic communications.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Write compelling proposals for foundations, government, and corporate entities, as well as reports
  • Coordinate with program team colleagues to develop accurate content for grant applications and required grant reporting, including narrative and financial reports
  • Continually research and vet new sources of funding including government, corporate, and foundation grants
  • Maintain and manage grants, responding to internal and external questions regarding drafted and submitted proposals
  • Cultivate positive relationships with funders, project team, and key stakeholders
  • Work with core team to discuss prospect strategy, solicitations, and various communications with foundations and corporations
  • Record and track all grant activity and progress

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Five to ten years of relevant experience as grant writer with skills in identifying, researching, and writing grants to foundations, government, corporate, and/or other philanthropic organizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage and work well with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • High degree of flexibility, efficiency, and initiative in work style

Compensation

  • Salary range: $3,000-$3,500 monthly, depending on years of experience
  • Part-time 1099 contract position of approximately 20 hours per week
