Job Summary:

As a Heavy Mechanical Shop - mechanic you will be responsible for disassembling, inspecting, documenting, assembling, various types of mining process equipment & walking dragline equipment, power plant equipment and machinery with other assigned duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Disassembles and inspects equipment to determine repair requirements. Includes gear assemblies, pinion shaft assemblies, trunnion rollers, thrust rollers, various walking dragline components, sheaves, fairleads, gear cases, dragline transmissions, planetaries gear cases, lump breakers & crushers, hammer mills, head shaft & tail shaft pulleys, shaker screens & more.
• Fill out inspection and other various reports.
• Using various pneumatic tools, hand tools, acetylene torch, welder, drill press and hand grinders required to disassemble and assemble various types of equipment.
• Required to read micrometers and measuring equipment.
• Ensure that the required equipment and tools are functioning properly.
• Performs routine maintenance on machinery and test equipment.
• Performs housekeeping tasks as required.
• Work independently to a set of procedures with stop checks for Supervisor and QC Sign Offs
• Must have own basic hand tools
• Must always adhere to and follow company safety rules.
• Training is available

Education :

• High School Diploma or GED Preferred

Experience :

• 2+ Years in Industrial Equipment / Mining Equipment Repair

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Knowledge of Industrial Application and Practices
• Knowledge of Bearing Types and Fitting and Setting Practices training available
• Employee must be dependable and capable of working long hours.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Attention to Detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to drive forklifts, man lifts and operate overhead cranes in a safe manner.

Work Location and Travel:

• The main office is located at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, FL.
• Travel to client and customer sites is required.
• Days and hours of work may vary at times to include some evenings and weekends.

Work Environment:

• Working environment is in an industrial shop; non-climate controlled and is often hot / humid.
• Frequent exposure to moving equipment, machines and shop tools, and other safety-sensitive hazards / risks.
• Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.

Physical Requirements

Talk/Hear: The ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Stand/Sit: The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing.

Walk: Required to move between different workstations, retrieve tools and parts, and access various areas of the vehicle or shop.

Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Frequently use hands and arms in handling, moving materials, and manipulating things. The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp or manipulate objects. The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp or manipulate small objects.

Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl: Routinely perform physical activities that require use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping. Occasional climbing.

See: The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet). Also, must be able to see details at a distance. The ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.

Carry, weight, Lift: The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
