HR Consultant I (Supply Chain Operations)
Houston, TX 77073
Starting rate: $30.00
Contingent to Full Time
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (start no later than 9am)
Remote Schedule: Two Tuesdays per month (notification in advance)
Night Shift Support: One late day per week (Thursday) 10am - 7:00pm

JOB SUMMARY
The Supply Chain HR Consultant I under the leadership of the HR Manager or Director of HR & HSE - Supply Chain Operations will 1) provide primary general HR services to the supply chain operations business units, 2) work directly with associates at all levels to ensure that all HR data is correctly captured and recorded in multiple HR databases and compliant with state and federal laws, 3) maintain associate files and conduct file audits as required, 4) support recruiting efforts to find and place top talent, 5) Support HR processes to provide business essential, cost effective, services to associates and business units across all shifts of operation, 6) Support the internal human resources employment, employee relations and compliance programs of Supply Chain Operations, 7) consult with, coach and counsel managers and associates regarding processes, policies, proper business conduct and 8) demonstrate consistent corporate commitment to the values statement.

Essential Function
  1. Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance in order to meet the needs of the business; including attending and participating in meetings and presentations
  2. Provides assistance to associates regarding Human Resources policies that impact the new hire entry of paid time off, compensation, and regulatory requirements while obtaining the proper approvals for all transactions.
  3. Supports recruiting and New Hire Orientation process and functions as the primary contact for new hire processing and documentation.
  4. Manages leave of absence (LOA) cases for assigned groups, partnering with associates, managers, human resources, safety, and legal to ensure accurate and timely administration of the LOA process.
  5. Adheres to HR processes that ensure the accurate data collection and entry of all the data points within the steps of the associate life-cycle.
  6. Produces accurate and timely reporting for BU customers, HR regulatory compliance and internal HR analysis.
  7. Captures and enters essential HR data in HRIS ensuring the information gathered is complete, accurate, and complies with all applicable policies and laws and maintain the integrity of all related HR & HSE databases.
  8. Actively participate in projects regarding new application rollouts, testing, reporting to ensure data integrity is not jeopardized.
  9. Responsible for initiating/processing appropriate status changes for supply chain business units
  10. Work cross-functionally and with multiple databases to support essential HR & HSE processes and other corporate functions.
  11. Research HR issues for associates, managers and leadership by utilizing established procedures, policies, resources, reports and other available data.
  12. Supports full-cycle recruiting processes for Supply Chain positions (pre-hire requirements through orientation delivery and/or coordination) and serves as a back-up "Recruiter" (SCO) to create requisitions, coordinate logistics for phone and face-to-face interviews, initiate and track background/drug tests, create and route offer letters, and track recruiting activities through databases and reports.
  13. Supports the Human Resources function across all shifts of operation for Supply Chain with a strong focus on, employee relations, leave administration and HR operations
  14. Working knowledge of Title VII, ADA, FMLA, EEOC Laws and HR Best Practices
  15. Executing on initiatives and projects, in partnership with the business unit and leadership teams, while also focusing on HR functional goals
  16. Providing education and training to managers and associates on the application of company policies and procedures
  17. Partners with Shared Services and HR colleges on continuous improvement efforts, Policy development, and project implementation to effectively administer Human Resource services.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year College or University; plus 1-2 years of Human Resources experience or equivalent of education and experience with an emphasis in employment and/or associate relations required.
  • Demonstrated ability and previous experience maintaining strict confidentially
  • Working knowledge of benefit programs and leave administration (e.g. Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Education Reimbursement, FMLA etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Skills-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to update job descriptions, HR policies and procedures, and employee handbook when provided content and direction.
  • Excellent judgment and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of executives, associates and other contacts, while appropriately and discreetly handling confidential information.
  • Working knowledge and experience with HRIS (e.g. Oracle, ADP, PeopleSoft)

Skill Set Needed:
  • Medium to Strong in systems HRMS & Timekeeping (People Soft, ADP, UKG)
  • Medium to Strong in Microsoft Suite
  • Knowledgeable in Leave of Absence (FMLA and ADA)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations*
  • PHR or SPHR certification desirable
  • Valid driver's license required.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in an office environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate may be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels. Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis).
