Position Overview The Instructional Coach will be responsible for implementing BGCP’s approach to instructional coaching, supporting after-school instructors and site leaders in delivering high-quality, engaging educational experiences. This role aligns with BGCP’s mission by ensuring that instructional practices foster equitable access to opportunities for all students, particularly those from underserved communities. The Instructional Coach will work collaboratively with site leaders and instructors to ensure effective curriculum implementation, continuous improvement in instructional practices, and the successful use of data to enhance student outcomes. Roles & Responsibilities Instructional Coaching: Implement BGCP’s instructional coaching approach, including proactive observations, model lessons, in-program real-time coaching, program observation walkthroughs, and post-observation coaching sessions. Support instructors and site leaders in lesson plan preparation and internalization protocols. Provide direction and coordination for consistent curriculum delivery in alignment with BGCP’s mission and core values. Develop and execute coaching plans in partnership with site leaders to drive student improvement and align with BGCP’s vision for youth development. Resource Development and Support: Assist instructors and site leaders with resources, materials, tools, and information necessary for effective after-school instruction and planning. Serve as a knowledgeable resource for research-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve student engagement, particularly for English learners, students with special needs, and students with diverse learning needs. Ensure that all instructional support provided aligns with BGCP’s commitment to equity and access. Training and Professional Development: Design and deliver practice-based training sessions for instructors and site leaders that embody BGCP’s core values and mission. Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate and support professional growth among staff, fostering a love of learning and continuous improvement. Model continual improvement, demonstrate lifelong learning, and apply new learning to support student achievement in line with BGCP’s vision. Data-Driven Instruction: Guide instructors and site leaders in using student-level data to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes. Submit weekly coaching logs, data requests, and any other relevant documentation to track progress and outcomes, ensuring alignment with BGCP’s mission and vision. Collaboration and Relationship Building: Build strong, collaborative relationships with instructors, site leaders, site partners, and other coaches, grounded in BGCP’s core values. Create an articulated coaching schedule in collaboration with site leaders, ensuring that coaching efforts support BGCP’s mission of empowering youth through equitable educational opportunities. Foster a professional community of adult learners by effectively giving and receiving constructive feedback, all in the spirit of unity and respect. Required Qualifications Proven classroom experience (in school or after-school settings) with a strong track record of effective instructional delivery and classroom management. Experience in instructional coaching, particularly with staff at varying experience levels. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver practice-based learning experiences for diverse groups of staff. Expertise in instructional practices, especially for Multilingual Learners (MLLs), students with special needs, Social-Emotional Learning, and enrichment programs. Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, fostering a professional community of adult learners. Demonstrated leadership qualities, with experience in teacher leadership roles. Proven ability to use student-level data to guide instructional decisions and improve student outcomes. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Evidence of continuous professional growth, including participation in significant professional development activities. Cleared LiveScan background check and negative TB test results (prior to start). Completion of Mandated Reporter Training and Sexual Harassment Training (prior to start). Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field. Experience working in a diverse, high-need educational setting. Physical Requirements and Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 20% walking & standing. Work environment noise level is usually moderate but can be noisy at times. All requirements are subject to reasonable accommodations.

Menlo Park, CA & hybrid with travel to additional sites as needed.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday: 9:00am-6:00pm Compensation & Benefits Employment Status: Full-Time Salary Pay Range: $75,000-$90,000 Depending on experience (DOE) Health Benefits: 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums; 50% for dependents Retirement Benefits: BGCP offers contributions to the 401(k) plan Comprehensive Paid Time-Off Policy, along with additional benefits Contributing to a thriving community for youth growth: Beyond measure As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, tuberculosis (TB) evaluation or test.
