LMS Administrator & Instructional Technology Specialist Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Academic Services/Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, this role provides system administration, training, and technical support for the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). It also partners with faculty to explore and implement innovative technologies that promote student-centered teaching and learning. The LMS Administrator & Instructional Technology Specialist is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the Canvas LMS, ensuring secure integration with IS, SSO, and third‑party tools in collaboration with IT and vendors. Develop training materials, maintain process records, generate usage and performance reports, and communicate system updates and best practices to stakeholders. Serve as the primary contact for faculty regarding LMS and instructional technology support, collaborating with the IT Help Desk to resolve student issues requiring elevated access or specialized expertise. Escalate complex technical problems to IT offices or LMS vendors, ensuring clear communication and documentation. Research, evaluate, and recommend instructional technologies aligned with institutional goals, accessibility standards, and student-centered pedagogy. Design and deliver professional development workshops, webinars, and training materials on LMS use, instructional design, and technology integration. Develop and maintain documentation and guides for faculty, staff, and students. Monitor system performance, apply updates, and manage LMS testing environments to verify new features and integrations. Generate and distribute reports on LMS usage, course activity, and system performance. Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree required (instructional technology, computer science, education, or related field); Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of experience administering a Learning Management System (preferably Canvas). Experience working in a higher education setting and/or teaching preferred. Canvas Certified Technical Admin (CCTA) or equivalent LMS administration certification preferred. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in instructional design and student-centered learning methodologies, including course design, instructional technologies, digital accessibility, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and assessment strategies. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic scripting or programming languages, with the ability to support LMS customization, automation, and integration through APIs and third-party applications. Experience with relational databases and reporting tools preferred. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate across departments, and drive continuous improvement in LMS support and instructional technology services. Position Status Full Time Hours General Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Hybrid/remote work opportunities may be available after a 90‑day introductory period. Compensation $69,380 – $92,818, plus exceptional benefits. Salary is salaried.
