Talen Energy is looking to connect with Power and Energy Market Traders in interest of growing our Commercial Energy Trading team!

This individual is responsible for P&L capture and will work with the Commercial Team to manage and optimize a portfolio of Fixed price and Zonal exposures across the grid. They will participate in activities such as asset-based trading, supply and marketing arrangements, asset optimization, model development, and risk management activities to preserve value and reduce risk via the use of all traded instruments and trade types available via the Talen Risk Policy.

• Work with team to monetize overall portfolio of power, fuel, congestion, emissions, and related exposures

• Deliver individual speculative and aggregate portfolio optimization value while operating within Talen risk, credit, and regulatory parameters.

• Work collaboratively with functional groups including Fundamentals, Accounting, Operations, Credit, and Risk.

• Create and execute strategies to hedge and manage financial trading position around physical assets.

• Work with Trading and Operations groups to understand and optimize physical basis conditions within geographically diverse portfolio.

• Options Trading experience with the ability to understand, trade, and manage options.

What You Have

• 3+ years of energy market experience profitably trading power, gas, and other related products

• Advanced degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or Mathematics preferred

• Thorough understanding of PJM power and gas infrastructure

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Knowledge of fundamental simulation forecasting tools and the manner which these can be used to identify opportunities

• VBA, Python, and/or other coding language knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or MBA

• Powerflow modeling

• LMP / FTR markets

• Environmental products

• Market data analysis platforms
