Senior Field Service Engineer

Salome, AZ | Full-time | Utility-Scale Energy Storage

Our client, a vertically integrated BESS leader, is hiring a Senior Field Service Engineer to take point at a brand-new 1.8 GWh utility-scale BESS site in the Arizona desert. This is one of the largest BESS deployments in the country, and it’s just entering the transition from commissioning into full operations. That means real impact, right now.

No Zoom fatigue. No red tape. Just boots-on-ground ownership from day one.

You’ll lead from the front:

• Take charge of site-level service for a 1.8 GWh BESS installation
• Lead a crew of 6 field techs and 1 other FSE, with plans to scale the team to 15+ over the next 24 months.
• Support preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, system upgrades, and firmware updates.
• Own onsite troubleshooting for power conversion systems and ancillary equipment.
• Train, mentor, and guide junior techs - building a team as strong as the systems you maintain.
• Serve as the on-site liaison with subcontractors and internal engineering teams.
• Handle live remote support, customer interaction, and detailed documentation.
• Operate with the autonomy to solve problems without waiting for permission.

This is a field-forward, high-accountability role designed for someone who wants to step into a leadership trajectory - moving toward Site Lead or Service Manager as the project grows.

Who You Are:

• You bring strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and know how to read schematics and physical layouts.
• You’ve worked with utility-scale battery storage systems and ideally have hands-on experience with PCS/inverters.
• You know your way around test equipment, software updates, and network protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, DNP3 a plus).
• You can lead, mentor, and work hands-on with a field crew, especially in rugged or remote environments.
• You’ve got excellent communication skills, whether training techs, talking to clients, or collaborating cross-functionally.

Requirements Snapshot:

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience
• 3+ years in field service roles (grid-scale BESS and PCS/inverter exposure preferred)
• Strong hands-on experience with electrical test tools and safety protocols
• Experience with computer networks, Office Suite, remote troubleshooting tools
• Valid driver’s license and passport; ability to travel or fly to remote project sites
• Comfortable working in a desert site environment (Salome, AZ); carpool vehicles available from Phoenix suburbs
