Team Overview: Do you have the desire and drive to manage capital, while aligning yourself with the strategic direction of the firm? If so, this may be the ideal opportunity for you. The Municipal Trading Department within Edward Jones is primarily responsible for providing our Financial Advisors with a broad supply of highly diversified and fairly priced municipal bonds that are used to fulfill the unique needs of every one of our more than 8 million clients. Our goal is to identify and analyze opportunities in the marketplace while always seeking to provide the best execution possible on every trade we handle.
What You Will Do: As a Trader I in the Municipal Trading Department, expectations are that you would have a passion for capital markets, excellent risk management skills, and be able to make capital commitments with minimal oversight. Additionally, an attention to detail is a must as your decisions can negatively impact our clients, while exposing the firm to significant regulatory, financial, and reputational risk.
Responsibilities include:
- Execute odd-lot retail client liquidations, bid wanteds, and external offerings, effectively managing corresponding inventory positions with limited to moderate retail-structured trading flows and capital commitments
- Independently perform all daily trading-related responsibilities, including pricing evaluation and position management
- Proficient demonstration of capital markets analytics, trading strategies, and risk management techniques
- Ensure best execution and compliance with all firm and industry regulatory requirements
- Effective application of internal and external trading systems and related tools
- Deliver client service excellence by researching and resolving branch inquiries, including more complicated requests as needed
- Support operational excellence initiatives
- Develop internal and external networks, including dealer relationships

Skills/Requirements What Experience You Need: - B.A./B.S. degree in business, economics, finance, or quantitative related field
- 18+ months of financial service experience required
- Series 7 and 66 required; additional desk specific licenses are needed within 6 months of hire (52, 55/57, CSI)
- Successful demonstration of problem-solving techniques with a proficient level of authority complexity, and risk
- Strong math skills; accuracy is important
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Position is not remote eligible, will be based in office in either St. Louis, MO or Tempe, AZ
What Could Set You Apart: - Capital markets experience
- Client Service and/or financial industry experience
- CFP, MBA, CFA, CPA or working towards designation(s)
- Proficiency in non-trading applications or coding language (i.e. Microsoft Suite, Power BI, Tableau, VBA, SQL)
*Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
Current INTERNAL home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid,
if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status . Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home-based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work.
