Position Summary:

Landmark Excavating is seeking a highly organized and safety-driven Traffic Control Manager to lead the development and execution of in-house traffic control operations. This role will oversee the design, setup, maintenance, and teardown of traffic control systems for excavation and utility projects. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with MUTCD and local agency standards, while training and managing internal traffic control crews to support project timelines and public safety.

• Develop, implement, and oversee all traffic control operations across Landmark projects.
• Design traffic control plans (TCPs) that meet project specifications, state/local regulations, and MUTCD standards.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and municipalities for permits, plan approvals, and inspections.
• Hire, train, and supervise a team of traffic control technicians and flaggers.
• Manage in-house inventory of signs, cones, barricades, arrow boards, and other traffic control equipment.
• Schedule daily deployments of traffic control setups and verify compliance in the field.
• Conduct site audits to ensure setups remain compliant, visible, and effective throughout the duration of the job.
• Lead traffic control safety meetings and participate in incident reviews involving public or crew traffic concerns.
• Ensure all team members are properly certified and trained in flagging, lane closures, and night operations as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation of traffic control plans, deployments, adjustments, and reports for regulatory compliance.

• 3+ years of experience in traffic control, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role
• Strong knowledge of the MUTCD , Utah state traffic control standards, and relevant permitting requirements
• ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification preferred (or willing to obtain)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Experience in construction scheduling, equipment logistics, or crew management a plus
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with basic digital tools (email, PDFs, plan markups, field apps)

• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Comfortable navigating active construction zones and right-of-way conditions
• Availability to respond to off-hour or emergency traffic control adjustments
