Description Join our World Languages department as an Upper School French and Spanish Teacher starting August 2024! The Upper School French and Spanish teacher is an integral part of Latin's Upper School World Languages Department. World language teachers have the freedom to teach unique language courses at the Advanced Placement, honors, standard, and elective levels, while collaborating with colleagues to ensure cohesion and coherence across the students' learning experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Teach 4 class sections, 2 in French (any level) and 2 in Spanish (up to level 3).
- Partner with colleagues to maintain, create and update course curriculum, as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues on grading and assessment practices.
- Assess students' academic performance including regular grading through assigning and grading regular homework assignments, formative assessments, and summative assessments.
- Provide 1:1 support to students during office hours, before and after school.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current within the field
- Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching.
- Engage with colleagues to maintain Latin's strong culture of collegiality.
Supervisory Responsibilities Qualifications Education and Experience - Experience teaching French and Spanish required;
- Bachelor's degree in French or Spanish is required; Master's is preferred
- Coursework in both languages or native/heritage speaking is required
- OPI rating of Advanced High or above preferred
- Ability to teach all levels of French and up to level 3 in Spanish

Working Conditions and Environment - Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
- Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
- Frequently talk and hear.
- Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
- Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
- Long or odd hours, as needed.
