ABOUT VES, LLC

We are a small business headquartered out of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. We have grown up to 56 employees, many of them getting our footprints established in other areas of the United States. This particular role will support our team in Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. Established in 2014, our core competencies are the development of custom government off the Shelf (GOTS) infrastructure solutions, integrating mission command systems, and prototyping emerging technologies for use in the Army tactical architecture. We are a company built entirely of engineers, focused completely on solving the DoD's hardest software systems integration challenges.

Many software government contractors only hire to fill a slot and then release the person with the contract time is up. General Job Duties:

• Build web-based services and components to be used in the building of user-facing Web applications
• Participate in Scrum meetings and express the work done and the plan clearly. Participate in scrum ceremonies and clearly communicate.
• Develop applications using Front end, middleware, and database related technologies.
• Should be hands in developing and implementing best practices and write smart piece of code.
• Coding standard should be followed, and the code should be highly performant.
• Develop software leveraging Spring Java Framework
• Develop software leveraging Javascript frameworks such as ReactJS or Angular
• Develop solutions leveraging REST and WebSocket technologies
• Work on applications and components that integrate with COTS messaging solutions such as RabbitMQ
• Developed applications that leverage a Data Service layer that implements REST or JAVA endpoint
• Are able to use modern software build tools, including Git, Jenkins and Gradle
• Have experience with and are comfortable using Windows as well as Linux platforms for software development
• Should be able to write unit test cases using any of the frameworks and should be completely automated.
• Should have strong exposure in REST API design and principles and adhere to Swagger/Open API specification
• Should be able to do impact analysis and document the design of the components.
• Should be able to develop reusable components using proper design patterns as listed by lead/architect so that it is extensible.

Required Skills:

• Expert in Spring based RESTful web services
• Solid problem-solving and debugging ability. Must be comfortable using a debugger.
• Solid CS fundamentals including object orientation, data structures, advanced algorithms, complexity, automata, operating system fundamentals, computer architecture, and systems analysis and design
• Familiarity with professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including requirements elicitation, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, agile development, build processes, testing, and operations
• Strong Git experience, including branching, merging, and resolving conflicts.
• Have developed unit tests and useful code documentation
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment
• Passionate about learning new technologies, tools, and platforms
• Ability to take strategic guidance and execute in a self-motivated manner
• Ability to write code and documentation that is maintainable for years down the line
• Ability to write code that is easily adaptable to changing requirements
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Desired Skills:

• Knowlege of GraphQL and MapStruct
• Experience using Git (or a Git-based implementation, e.g. Stash, Bitbucket, Github) in a collaborative production environment-especially on a large-scale software project
• Experience using Jenkins, Gradle and Maven
• Published software projects for external consumption, or have made significant contributions to existing open-source projects
• Experience with the Agile or Scrum development methodology
• Experience working as part of a software development team
• Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Bitbucket/Stash, Nexus)
• Experience with continuous integration or build automation (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo)

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 3-5+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with respect to all the above requirements.
