You will blend advocacy, fundraising, and relationship management – building deep partnerships with government agencies, elected officials, and public funders at the city, state, and federal levels. You are a government affairs professional with experience securing public funding, influencing policy, and opening doors in key jurisdictions. You will be a strategic thinker, persuasive communicator, and passionate champion for children's mental health and learning equity.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, National Programs, this is a full-time, exempt, hybrid (in office a minimum of 4 days per week) position.

You Will:

    • Draft policy briefs, testimony, position statements, and talking points for internal and external audiences.
    • Facilitate high-level engagements between organizational leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Public Sector Fundraising
    • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for government funding, contracts, and grants to support programs and strategic initiatives.
    • Lead or support proposal development in partnership with program, finance, and development teams.
    • Cultivate relationships with public funders and decision-makers to position us as a trusted provider and expert.
    • Track funding pipelines, timelines, and requirements in priority states and cities.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Be a senior external representative of the organization, including participation in policy coalitions, advisory groups, and public events.
    • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and Chief Marketing Officer to ensure alignment and integration of organizational growth and brand and fundraising strategies.
    • Manage and/or coordinate with contract lobbyists, policy consultants, and state-level leads.
    • Report progress, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership

You Have:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or public sector fundraising, with a demonstrated ability to secure public funding and influence policy outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Extensive network of relationships with government officials and public agencies at city, state, and/or federal levels.
  • Experience with legislative, regulatory, and budget processes, especially those related to health, education, and human services.
